St. John Bosco Achievement Centre

Students who can attend this achievement centre

This achievement centre offers individualized learning to youth who are currently involved with the youth justice system. All students work on high school credits at their own pace, setting personal goals with the help of a full-time teacher and a youth worker.
The Centre is available to students involved in the Intensive Support and Supervision Program (ISSP), Non-Residential Attendance Centre (NRAC), Community Support Team (CST), A Different Street Housing Program (ADS), Children’s Aid Society and Youth Probation Services. Our students come from all walks of life but have one thing in common - they have struggled to be successful in a regular school setting.

Benefits of attending this centre

The St. John Bosco Achievement Centre is a welcoming, safe and supportive place where students can reach success at their own pace. The main goal for this program is to motivate students to use what they learn with to further improve their education and job options. This achievement centre is linked with Immaculata High School, which is the credit-granting school.

The students can earn credits towards a high school diploma. The Centre can help their transition to a regular high school. Students will be motivated to take control of their life choices. The educational opportunities provided guide the development of the whole person.

“I like it here because I don’t have to think about all the other stuff…this place is where I come for me.”

“This is the best that I have ever done in my life, I am in school, I’m clean and I got a job.”

“It’s a quiet place where I can sit down and actually get something done. I don’t have to worry about the next test or homework assignment because you’re not afraid to ask anything.”
